  Confused cows clog busy motorway
Updated 13 May 2004, 17.10
Cows wander around on the M1 motorway
Drivers on a busy motorway became involved in a cow-tastrophe on Thursday when a trailer carrying cows overturned on the road.

The bovine beasts caused chaos as they wandered freely, but confusedly, along the road, ignoring busy traffic.

Several cows were slightly hurt in the accident, but a vet was called to help treat the injured animals.

More seriously, a woman had to be freed from her car which also rolled over. She was not seriously hurt though.

'Is there a milk bar around here?'

The incident could have been a lot more serious.

The M1 is a very busy main motorway, which runs between London and Leeds in the north of England.
