  Love-struck crabs invade Florida
Updated 12 August 2004, 16.35
Blue crabs are invading Florida
Thousands of scampering blue crabs have invaded a town in Florida.

The love-struck crustaceans have been arriving in Coral Gables because August is their mating season.

And the crabs are so determined to find Mr or Miss Right that they've been dodging cars, motorbikes and pedestrians in their quest.

Some residents might think the crabs make a tasty seafood treat, but luckily the creatures are protected during mating season.

The law makes it illegal to capture them between the months of July and October.

Several people have already been arrested for illegally harvesting the blue crabs out of season.
