The big bunny, who weighs nearly 10kg, tapped on Simon Steggall's chest and licked his face when he passed out at his home in Warboys, Cambridgeshire.

The rabbit's odd behaviour alerted Simon's wife, who thought he was just sleeping. She rang for paramedics, who brought him round with an injection.

Doctors think Dory smelled Simon's low blood sugar, which caused his coma.

Simon said: "My specialist said he had heard of cats and dogs acting this way, but never a rabbit."

Dory, who was named after a character in Disney film Finding Nemo, has lived with the family for four months.

It's not the first time Simon has been saved by a pet.
