Animal welfare groups are asking the government to ban fireworks because the loud bangs distress pets.
They want all fireworks to be 95 decibels loud - that's about the same as the sound of a house door slamming.
Nearly 75,000 people have signed the petition organised by The Animal Welfare Fireworks Coalition, lead by the RSPCA.
Every year the RSPCA is contacted by worried pet owners looking for advice to stop their pets getting frightened.
Law changes expected
The government is expected to announce some changes to the laws on fireworks soon.
The public may only be allowed to buy fireworks during the weeks leading up to Diwali and Guy Fawkes Night.
And all organised displays may have to have special permission to take place.
A spokesperson for the RSPCA told Newsround they didn't want to ban displays altogether: "You'll still have the bright lights without the large noises that spook animals."
