  Brave kangaroo gets hero award
Updated 28 April 2004, 17.40
Lulu the heroine kangaroo
A kangaroo which saved a farmer's life in Australia by alerting his family that he was unconscious has been hailed as a heroine.

Lulu the plucky roo banged on the door of the farmer's home in the state of Victoria, until his wife came out to see what was wrong.

She followed the furry heroine to find her husband had been knocked out by a falling branch.

Now the RSPCA in Australia has awarded Lulu a special award for bravery.

Lulu the heroine kangaroo
Leonard Richards, 52, could have died if he hadn't been found in time.

The Richards family adopted the roo when she was young, because she was blind in one eye, and it seems she's pretty grateful.

Mr Richards' 19-year-old son Luke said: "It was so lucky. Dad could have been there for hours if it wasn't for her."
