Animals fed at last in Baghdad Zoo
Updated 20 April 2003, 19.10
A camel in Baghdad
Animals in Baghdad Zoo have been fed at last after some went for days without a meal.

Two weeks' worth of meat, fruit and vegetables has been delivered there from the government in Kuwait.

They've also sent a month's supply of dry feed.

Dangerous

The zoo was looted when Saddam Hussein's leadership was toppled. People stole animals like monkeys, bears, horses and camels, which are seen as valuable.

But some animals, like lions and tigers, which were seen as too dangerous to steal, were left behind.

Some of them were not fed for days.

But the shipment of food from Kuwait hopefully means the animals will be OK for the next few weeks.
