Just minutes later, Buster had sniffed out hundreds of rifles, grenades, bullets, drugs and suitcases full of cash.
'Very proud'
Brown-eyed Buster, who's five, managed to find the stash even though the Iraqis had hidden it inside a wall, covered it with a sheet of tin and pushed a cupboard in front of it.
The find led to 16 Iraqi soldiers being arrested in the village of Safwan.
His owner and handler, Sergeant Danny Morgan, from Hampshire, said he was very proud of Buster.
Family pet
"We'd never have found the weapons without him," he said. "Buster has been worth his weight in gold. He's my best friend."
