Two of the badgers have already been killed this way.
But animal lovers went mad when they heard about the badgers, and staged a protest at Saltdean in East Sussex.
Now the government's agreed to stop the cull - for the time being.
But it's warned that unless a good alternative can be found to deal with the badgers, they may still have to be killed in the future.
It's only the second time the government's granted one of these special licences to kill badgers since an Act of Parliament protecting badgers was passed in 1992.
