New pics 'show Loch Ness monster'
Updated 09 September 2002, 17.41

New photographs have surfaced which could prove the Loch Ness monster really does exist.

There have been many sightings of the legendary Nessie, the most famous being in 1934, but the picture taken proved to be a fake.

The legend of the creature dates back to the 6th Century, when a water-beast is said to have appeared before a saint.

These latest pictures, taken by 63-year-old Roy Johnston, show a creature breaking the surface of the water of the Scottish loch last month.

Mr Johnston said, "It was a black, greyish colour but I couldn't see a head."

It's the fifth suspected sighting of the shy wee beastie this year!
