A tortoise has been fitted with wheels after being hit by a bullet and losing the use of his back legs.

The 20-year-old reptile was hurt when there was a shoot-out in a town in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

His thick, bony shell couldn't protect it from the stray bullet and his owner couldn't afford his treatment.

But kind vets decided to help out for free and attached a pair of wheels from a television rack to his shell with sticky tape.

Now he's learning to walk, or roll, using his front feet to pull himself along.
