The 17-year-old bear has always had loads of admirers and attention from visitors.
But he's also had a reputation for being a complete misery guts.
His keepers tried everything to make him happy, but nothing worked. What worried them most was his frantic swimming back and forth in his pool.
As a last resort, his carers tried out a gadget called the Endless Pool which churns up his pool water like a jacuzzi.
And he loves it! The gadget makes swimming like a game for Gus. He's much more playful - something he never was before.
He even impresses children with tricks now, like swimming with a bucket on his head!
It's a happy ending for Gus, whose life is a bit more "bearable" now!
