Dolphins are well known to help humans when they are in danger - and have even been known to rescue people who are drowning at sea.
So experts think that cuddly creatures can be used too. They can work in much colder waters and can dive nearly eight times deeper than dolphins.
They can also be equipped with special rescue harnesses which people can grab on to.
It may sound far-fetched, but scientists are convinced that one day seals will save lives.
It could bring a whole new meaning to the term Navy Seals.
