  Rhinos on the move
Updated 27 March 2002, 19.48
Twenty men try and move a rhino
Ten rhinos from Nepal were moved 250 miles across the country in trucks on Tuesday to try and help them survive.

Conservationists hope that by moving them to a national park that doesn't have many rhinos left, it will help encourage them to breed and boost the population.

Facts about rhinos
Five different species of rhino
All in danger of extinction
Eyes in the sides of their heads
Can run up to 25 miles per hour
Weigh as much as a small car
Been around for over 50m years

Moving the two-tonne animals was very difficult.

First someone had to get close enough to shoot a dart into the creatures that would relax their muscles.

Then 20 men had to roll each rhino onto a sledge so that they could then be put on a truck.

To make it even harder, all this had to be done quickly in case the relaxing drugs ran out.

Rhinos are very dangerous animals and kill several people a year.

The trucks had to drive through the night so that the animals don't have to suffer the heat of the day.

Now that the rhinos are safely in their new home, it's hoped that they will soon be breeding with the other rhinos in the park.
