Britain could ban dog and cat fur
Updated 23 December 2001, 16.50
The RSPCA has used the film 101 Dalmations to get its point across

Cat and dog fur in British shops could become a thing of the past.

You might not realise it but clothes which contain real fur in high street shops could occasionally contain cat and dog fur, according to the RSPCA.

They've fought for two years to stop people bringing it into the country from China.

101 Dalmations

They've been using the film 101 Dalmations to help them explain their worries to people.

Now it looks like it could've paid off as it's reported the government is to ban the trade altogether, according to the Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

Fur which is on sale could have to have DNA checks to see if it contains any from cats or dogs.
