TV
Network television news output increased from 2,000 hours in 96/97 to over 25,000 hours in 02/03.

During this period BBC News launched BBC News 24 and BBC Parliament and took editorial responsibility of BBC World.

More recently, TV output has increased further with the launch of services for BBC3 and BBC4.

Radio
News' radio output has increased from 12,000 hours in 96/97 to nearly 20,000 hours in 02/03.

This is largely due to News taking responsibility for English language news production for World Service in 1997, adding 5,000 hours to the output. The volume has increased further with over 1,000 hours of news for the new digital radio networks
