ST MARTHA’S HOUSE
Cardinals involved in the conclave can now have rooms with modern facilities such as ensuite bathrooms thanks to a new guesthouse built in the 1990s on John Paul’s orders. Previously cardinals – many elderly – had makeshift accommodation within the Apostolic Palace.
