I like Dharavi very much because this is home for me.

I spend a lot of my time reading books, watching television or listening to music. I also like to play with children from the neighbouring houses. We usually play board games because we don't have much space or a playground outside.

My college is nearby and I usually travel both ways by bus.

I don't go to eat out too much. I prefer to eat at home because my mother is a very good cook. Even our birthdays are celebrated at home.

I invite my friends over because I am not ashamed of where I stay and it doesn't bother me that Dharavi is considered a slum area. They come home and I go over to their's as well.

I live with my parents, younger brother and grandmother while my uncle, who works in a shipping company, aunt and their two daughters stay in the room on the floor above.

Our rooms are small but we adjust to each other. We even work out a schedule for watching television so that our timings don't clash.

We have a common outdoor toilet but have a wet space in a corner of the room that is used as a bathroom and a kitchen sink. Our clothes are also washed there.

We occasionally travel to my village in southern India and from there we travel out to nearby cities and towns.

My parents have given me a cell phone for use in case of an emergency. It's a prepaid connection and I make sure that I never use my mobile to talk to friends.

I don't demand much from my parents because I know it is difficult for them to make ends meet.

I want to finish my graduation and become a teacher. I plan on getting married and wouldn't mind staying in Dharavi.
