| All four of the bombers were from West Yorkshire and three were still living in the area at the time of the attacks.
Mohammad Sidique Khan, Shehzad Tanweer and Hasib Hussain grew up in the Beeston and Holbeck areas of Leeds and Tanweer and Hussain were still living in their parents' homes.
Khan, the eldest of the group, had moved out to Dewsbury but was a frequent visitor to Beeston where he, like Tanweer and Hussain, was active in the social life around the local mosques, youth clubs, gyms and an Islamic bookshop.
According to the government investigation, he was a leading figure in the area and a mentor to many young people, including Tanweer and Hussain.
Germaine Lindsay had grown up in Huddersfield but moved to Aylesbury in 2003 when he got married.
To build the bombs, the group rented a flat at 18 Alexandra Grove in the Hyde Park area of Leeds - a student area where they were unlikely to be recognised but equally would not have stood out.
They sub-let the flat from an Egyptian student whom Lindsay had met at the nearby Leeds Grand Mosque in November 2004. He had returned to Egypt and was later eliminated from police enquiries.
