Derbyshire County Council was the area's top performer, rated "excellent" by inspectors. Derby City Council was also rated highly, scoring well in environment and housing services.c

No council was given a "poor" overall rating, but inspectors found that Northamptonshire County Council and Nottingham City Council were "weak" performers.
