In Rajasthan we are very proud of our traditions, time-honoured and tested for centuries.
Here I am greeted by the village elders – they place a turban on my head and garland me.
Through this gesture they grant me their respect. I, in turn, seek their blessings. We go through this ritual in every village.
It is an important expression of trust and loyalty. After this, I am introduced by the village chief to the gathering. Only then may I speak.
