A scarificator

An English scarificator with six lancets used for blood-letting, made by Fuller of London.

Health was thought to be restored by purging, starving, vomiting or bloodletting, which seemed logical at a time when the foundation of all medical treatment was based on four body humors: blood, phlegm, yellow and black bile.
