PRODUCTIVITY Despite the stable economic climate, the government's attempts to boost the UK's underlying growth rate have had little clear success. UK output per worker, or productivity, is still lower than our main rivals, so that the UK cannot afford as high a standard of living. The UK is well still behind the US, but the gap with Europe has narrowed. |
