Cardiff poet Grahame Davies described his colleagues as a "pretty private bunch" but said his portrait by Bewsey was more "like himself than himself". Davies said "thinking about posture, clothes, the look on my face " to be preserved for future generations "wasn't the sort of thing that usually bothers a poet".
