Rush-hour above the mid-Atlantic ridge.

Using the world’s first long-term, full ocean-depth echo sounder moored 1,000 metres below the waves, CoML researchers watched huge numbers of animals rising to the surface to feed at dusk.

Some would come up half a kilometre to the surface every evening.
