All the samples on this voyage were collected by a specially-constructed net-bearing structure known as Mocness, designed by the cruise's chief scientist Peter Wiebe.

Mocness carries several nets which can be opened and closed at different depths, allowing a number of layers of the ocean to be sampled in the same "dive".
