"Every war is a failure. It doesn't matter if you win or lose - you've still lost your best soldiers and innocent people have died on both sides.

"It's too soon to tell if Israel achieved its war aims. However I'm very happy UN soldiers are going to get involved - now there's going to be someone neutral to do the job and keep both sides apart."
