The Sanders Portrait Thought to have been painted in 1603 by the little-known artist John Sanders, this "contender" portrait has been linked to Shakespeare by tradition and limited circumstantial evidence. An entire segment has been lost from the right side of the composition where the sitter's shoulder would have been. |
