The BBC has commissioned a poll to gauge attitudes to religion.

ICM Research interviewed a random sample of 1,005 adults across the UK by phone between 8 and 10 July, shortly after the London bus and Tube bombings.

It suggests a fairly even split between those backing a ban on inciting religious hatred and those who say it curbs free speech.
