On the first anniversary of the tsunami, Sri Lankans created a ring of light around the island. Shirly Karalage lost his father and brother at Unawatuna beach.

"I'm organising the lighting of oil lamps here to remember them. There's not much I can do about their deaths. But this is something symbolic and truly meaningful.
