2002 - Solo feat
US adventurer Steve Fossett became the first person to solo-pilot a balloon around the globe.
His helium-filled Spirit Of Freedom covered nearly 20,000 miles (32,000 km) around the Southern Hemisphere.
It was Fossett's sixth attempt at circling the globe.
