When he was made Pope in 1979 I went out onto the street because I was so happy that he had been chosen.

Now I am really sad. I knew he was getting more and more ill but it's still sad knowing he'd die.

It's really good that everyone's praying for him - from all religions. He was a moral man and a big man. His death will sadden a lot of people.
