High-end consumer electronics firm Loewe saw its profits collapse when cathode-ray tube televisions went out of fashion before the flat-screen market took off. A strategy of flexible working, lower wages and job cuts was agreed with the union, saved the company and kept production in Kronach, Germany. Loewe hopes to return to profit this year.
