Armstrong walks a short distance from the Apollo 11 Lunar Module and takes this image of the landing site.

The rock and soil samples they returned for analysis puzzled scientists showing that the lunar dirt was not related to the underlying rock.

The dirt came from asteroid and meteor impacts.
