In pictures: Russian criminal tattoos
Glory to the party!

Long after the collapse of the Soviet Union many inmates and former prisoners were still walking around with tattoos berating or ridiculing the state. This one, found on a man in the city morgue at St Petersburg in 1997, says Glory to the CPSU (Communist Party of the Soviet Union). The man had been convicted of pulling down banners during the anniversary of the October 1917 revolution.
