Mostar's heritage

The Old Bridge, or Stari Most, was built of 456 blocks of stone in 1566 by the Ottoman Turkish architect, Mimar Hajrudin.

He was a disciple of the greatest Ottoman architect, Mimar Sinan, builder of some of Istanbul's finest mosques.

The bridge gave its name to the town around it, the main city of the Hercegovina region.
