Although the sandbags are keeping back much of the detritus, the yard has flooded again this year and the water is creeping up the path to the Bowens' front door.

"I think the house will escape but I'm more worried about plans to make a rowing lake out of two huge gravel pits down the road from here. That would mean there's a mile of water facing the house."
