Slow success The suffragettes suspended their campaign to support the home front in World War One. In 1918 came the first stage of female suffrage - the 1918 Representation of the People Act, which gave property owning women over the age of 30 the right to vote. Ten years later, shortly before Emily Pankhurst died, all women were given the vote in the Equal Franchise Act. |
