Olivier Sir Ian McKellen says that Laurence Olivier - while director of the National Theatre in the 60s - stocked the cigarette machine with only one brand: Olivier. It was a lucrative line. His son Tarquin said Olivier made "tuppence a thousand", which amounted to a handy £40,000 a year. Tarquin dismisses the claim they were blended by Olivier himself, as "nonsense". |
