Henry Soloman Wellcome (1852-1936) had ambitions to create a 'Museum of Man'.

Although at its largest the collection was said to be five times the size of the Louvre, it was never exhibited together in one place and was eventually broken up.

The small fraction brought together again is on display at the British Museum until November.
