In Pictures: Wellcome exhibition
Glass eyes

Over a million objects connected to medicine had been collected by the obsessive philanthropist Henry Wellcome by the time he died in 1936.

They ranged from Peruvian mummies to a set of 50 artificial glass eyes.

For the first time the jewels of the collection have been brought together for a new exhibition at the British Museum.
