Sir Robin Day

Sir Robin - complete with trademark bow tie - presented Panorama in the late 1950s and 1960s.

He joined the team with a reputation as a fierce political inquisitor, which was made during the Suez crisis in 1955.

He left Panorama in 1979 to front the BBC programme Question Time, a programme which he made his own for 10 years.
