France France has its hottest summer since 1949. Temperatures hit 40C in Bordeaux and Toulouse and 39C in Paris. Ozone pollution is so bad that speed limits have been introduced. Nuclear plants are being allowed to emit warmer-than-usual water into rivers. Forest fires have killed five people. Rainfall since February is 50% down in some area. |
