Country star Johnny Cash, who has died at the age of 71, was born in Arkansas, and began singing while still in high school.

While in the air force during the Korean War he bought a guitar and taught himself to play.

He signed his first record deal with Sun Records in 1955, joining the same label as Elvis Presley.
