In pictures: British summer 'staycation'


 

The huts are built on Crown Estate land and privately-owned fields. No new huts can be built, and those that fall into disrepair must be replaced with like-for-like.

Mark Gallimore built a new hut five years ago, adding a few "modern" touches such as a mini-kitchen, where he and his daughters Elizabeth, 17, and Lucy, 12, were about to cook up a freshly caught lobster.
