In pictures: British summer 'staycation'


 

As the credit crunch bites, many Britons have struggled to justify the cost of a holiday abroad, choosing instead to stay put, at home – a growing trend dubbed a "staycation".

It is easier on the pocket, involves no packing; no airport queues and affords the opportunity to explore places on your doorstep.

The beach hut is as British as bad weather and fish and chips - and possibly the ultimate venue for a staycation according to one community on England's south-west coast.
