In pictures: Mapping in action

		Before the emergency Ms Shelley is an account manager at ESRI and has been volunteering with MapAction for six years. She came back from Iraq last month, where MapAction was working with the Mines Advisory Group on the mapping and clearance of minefields. The real power of the ESRI software and the experts that use it, she says, is not just in giving a pictorial representation of the distribution of damage or resources. It is in the analysis that the software can do.
