An expedition to a wildlife reserve in Brazil's Carrado region has unearthed 14 species new to science, say researchers.

Scientists made their discoveries in and around the Serra Geral do Tocantins Ecological Station.

They said the area is also an important habitat for the Phyllomedusa azurea, which has a chemical defence that could contain substances for new medicines.
