Rebuilding lives

The 1950s were characterised by survivors rehabilitating their lives – building homes, achieving economic stability and rearing families.

As the fledgling state took root, so they began to make their mark in all walks of life – from industry to the arts.

In time, Holocaust survivors would feature prevalently among Israel's most-celebrated painters, designers, poets, authors, athletes, dancers and academics.
