In pictures: Egypt's hidden treasures
Dorcas gazelle

This picture was taken in Egypt's eastern desert.

Until the 1950s the Dorcas Gazelle was commonly found in large herds. Now, because of poaching and the degradation of its habitat, they are usually just seen in pairs.

The Dorcas Gazelle is highly adapted to the desert.

They can go their entire lives without drinking, as they can get all of the moisture they need from the plants in their diet.
