As part of our series on how the economic downturn has hit global remittances, we visit the Irish town of Gort, home to a once-thriving Brazilian community.

In Gort, a small town of some 3,000 people, groups of Brazilian men seeking casual work gather each morning on the main square.

For most of the past five or six years work has been plentiful. But now things have changed.
